Dr. Beer is a Pennsylvania native, originally from Philadelphia. She graduated from Saint Joseph’s University and Jefferson Medical College. She moved to north central PA to complete her residency training at Geisinger Medical Center where she enjoyed being away from the hustle and bustle of Philly. She ventured to Baltimore, Maryland for her husband’s fellowship training where she worked as a Pediatrician. She is very excited to be back in PA and join Eden Park Pediatrics. She enjoys getting to know and forming long lasting relationships with her patients and their parents. She is most passionate about newborn and infant well child visits, particularly with first time parents, helping them navigate the new challenges of parenthood. When not working, she can be found spending time with her husband and two daughters. She also enjoys running, cooking, and being at the beach.
What do you wish every parent of a newborn would know?
DB: I was very overwhelmed after my first daughter was born. When my daughter was 2 weeks old, I was on the phone with one of my friends, who was already a seasoned mother, and she told me, “It gets better.” I found that advice to be very comforting and very true. The first few weeks and months can be very hard and exhausting, but it becomes so worth it when you see your child smile at you for the first time.
Think of a favorite trip. Where did you go and what made it special?
DB: After I graduated from college, my brother and I back packed through Spain. It was our first vacation on our own without our parents. Navigating through a foreign country without my parents’ guidance was the first time I really felt like an adult.
You’re 5 years old again. What do you want to be when you grow up?
DB:I always wanted to be a doctor. I am very lucky to have known what I wanted to be from a young age.
