What’s the best advice you ever got?

EG: The best advice I ever received was from a teacher who told me, “you don’t have to be good at everything, because when you’re not, that's an opportunity to learn from and appreciate someone else.”

Think of a favorite trip. Where did you go and what made it special?

EG: I spent a month in rural Zambia studying the healthcare system in the developing world and its unique challenges. We lived alongside families in the village and did everything the locals did, from carrying buckets of water on our heads to eating cow intestines. I'll do anything once! We finished our trip with a visit to Victoria falls and a camping safari where we slept to the sounds of lions and hyenas. Never have I experienced creation and nature like I did in Zambia!

What was your favorite game to play when you were a kid? (and why)

EG: My favorite game to play was a board game called Pretty, Pretty Princess. Players spun an arrow to move along the board and collect pieces of jewelry to wear along the way. Whoever got to the end first won the tiara and was the pretty, pretty princess. A special thanks to my dad and brothers for participating in this dignified competition.

When/why did you decide to become a pediatrician/NP/LC?

EG: I decided to become a pediatric NP because I’m passionate about raising healthy kids to become healthy adults! I want to help equip families and their children with tools for a sustainable, healthy lifestyle so that they can experience life to the fullest.

Kids say the darndest things. What’s your favorite?

EG: While talking about eating nutritious foods so that we can grow big and strong, I had a kiddo point out that I’m “not a very big grown up.” This is true, I am not the tallest. But can you imagine if I hadn’t eaten my vegetables?
